Hi! My name is Briana
If you’re reading this, it likely means that you’ve decided to seek therapy or are searching for a new counselor. I like to keep things real and this is the place to be honest and messy. Nobody that steps foot in my door has all their stuff together, including myself at times. I’m here to tell you it’s okay.
My goal is to make my clients feel heard and empowered. Whether you are wanting to grow as an individual, learn more about yourself, heal from past trauma, or anything in between, I am here to help you get where you want to be.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate under the supervision of Dr. Jessica Barboza, LMFT-S. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Houston and then worked 8 years as a teacher. I decided then to pursue my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at Lamar University.
My passion is working with families, couples, young adults, and teenagers. I believe in a person-centered approach and that every individual is unique and has different experiences. I use a holistic approach of integrating evidence-based practices to meet the client where they are to support their therapeutic goals. Some of these approaches include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness Techniques. I enjoy working with clients as we discover new coping skills, strengths, healing, and self-care.
A little about me, I enjoy spending my free time exercising, going on long walks, playing tennis, reading a new book, or spending time with my family and friends. I love the thrill of hiking, exploring, and traveling to new places. I’ve had a few challenging seasons in my life and counseling helped me overcome those hardships. Finding the right counselor for you is important and I look forward to walking this journey with you.
